# Persistent Breast Pain Despite Normal Reports – An Ayurvedic Case Experience
Breast pain, heaviness, or itching can be uncomfortable and sometimes worrying. The concern may become even more confusing when these symptoms continue despite sonography and mammography showing no significant abnormality.
At "Ayurveda Gokulam Panchakarma Kendra", we recently managed a similar case through an individualized Ayurvedic approach.
## The Patient's Complaints
A female patient came to us with "continuous pain, heaviness, and itching in both breasts". The discomfort involved almost the entire breast area.
On examination, there was no palpable lump. She had already undergone sonography and mammography, which did not reveal a significant abnormality explaining her symptoms.
Her menstrual cycles were regular. One important observation was that "her breast symptoms decreased during menstruation".
## Ayurvedic Understanding
In Ayurveda, different tissues and physiological processes of the body are considered interconnected.
In this case, the relationship between her breast symptoms and menstrual cycle was particularly important. Ayurveda describes a close relationship between "Rakta (blood), Artava (menstrual Flow), and Stanya (breast physiology)."
Considering her symptoms, menstrual pattern, examination, and available reports, an individualized Ayurvedic treatment plan was prepared.
## Treatment Approach
The patient was treated with "internal Ayurvedic medicines along with Raktamokshana through Siravyadha".
We have intentionally not mentioned the names or doses of medicines because Ayurvedic treatment should be selected according to each patient's individual condition and should not be self-prescribed.
Two sessions of "Siravyadha" were performed approximately one month apart as part of her treatment.
## Result
Following the treatment, the patient's "breast pain, heaviness, and itching resolved".
More importantly, the symptoms remained absent during subsequent menstrual cycles as well.
This was a positive outcome in this individual case, especially because the patient had been experiencing persistent symptoms despite reassuring breast imaging.
## What This Case Tells Us
Normal sonography or mammography can be reassuring, but persistent symptoms should not simply be ignored.
At the same time, this case does not mean that every woman with breast pain requires the same Ayurvedic treatment or Raktamokshana. Breast discomfort can have different causes, and treatment should be decided only after proper evaluation.
If breast pain, heaviness, itching, or tenderness continues despite normal reports, a detailed clinical assessment may help determine the appropriate next step.
Any new breast lump, nipple discharge, skin or nipple changes, redness, swelling, or persistent worsening symptoms should always be medically evaluated.
## Individualized Ayurvedic Care
Ayurveda focuses on understanding the patient as a whole rather than treating every person with the same protocol.
At "Ayurveda Gokulam Panchakarma Kendra, Vijay Nagar, Indore", treatment is planned after considering the patient's symptoms, medical reports, menstrual history, and individual Ayurvedic assessment.
This case is an example of how an individualized Ayurvedic approach was used for persistent breast discomfort when the patient's investigations did not show a significant abnormality.
