Feeling tired after a long day is normal. Feeling tired every day for weeks, even after a full night's sleep, is not. Constant fatigue usually has a cause, and finding it is the first step.
Common causes of constant tiredness
- Low haemoglobin (anaemia), which is common in women and teenagers
- An underactive thyroid
- High or poorly controlled blood sugar
- Low vitamin D or vitamin B12
- Poor sleep, stress or long hours on screens
- Slow recovery after a viral fever such as dengue or typhoid
Tests worth doing first
Dr Amit Kumar's approach starts with a diagnosis backed by the right tests. For fatigue, the basic reports are a complete blood count, thyroid profile (TSH), fasting blood sugar, and vitamin D and B12 levels. If a report shows a clear cause such as severe anaemia or diabetes, that has to be treated properly, and he will tell you if you also need to see a physician.
See a doctor quickly if
- you are losing weight without trying
- you get breathless or your heart races on mild effort
- you have had fever for more than a week
- you feel low or hopeless most days
How homeopathic treatment fits in
When reports are normal, or the tiredness comes from stress, poor sleep or a slow recovery after illness, homeopathic medicine is chosen based on your symptoms, sleep, appetite and daily routine. Follow-ups show whether your energy is improving.
