Himmat Lal Kumhar, born in small village Molela in Rajsamand district in Rajasthan state Mewar, was born on 28 November 1969. His primary education took place in his village Molela and the rest of his education was completed in Nathdwara College (B.Com). Along with his studies, he used to help his father Khemraj ji Kumhar in terracotta work. After that they started making terracotta statues and toys!
Himmat Lal Kumhar: For this work, his father Khemraj ji first received the award from the President of India, Mr. Neelam Sanjeev Reddy in 1981, due to which the entire Molela village started knowing him by the name Terracotta Work, after which Molela potters started giving employment to people and started asking for terracotta work in the country and abroad. Lal Kumhar learned this terracotta work from his father, his father was his guru.
Himmat Lal Kumhar: Himmat Lal Kumhar along with his father has done exhibition fairs, Pragati Maidan, Craft Museum, Delhi cultural programs, Jaipur and big fairs. He taught terracotta work in universities and schools. He worked with great artists.
Himmat Lal ji Kumhar has worked in foreign countries. They have made terracotta idols, rural themes, Krishna Leela, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Maharana Pratap, all types of themes and even today they have started making new themes.
Now successfully they are giving this knowledge to school and college students and taking their art to next level
