Engine oil and filter

The engine oil should be fully drained, not topped up, and replaced with oil matching your bike's specification. The oil filter (where fitted) or air filter should be cleaned or replaced depending on its condition, not automatically swapped every time if it's still within usable life. Chain and drivetrain

The chain should be cleaned, lubricated, and checked for slack against the manufacturer's tolerance. A chain that's too loose or too tight affects both fuel efficiency and wear on the sprockets. Brakes and clutch

Brake pads should be checked for wear thickness, not just tested for feel. Clutch cable tension and lever play should be adjusted if they've drifted from spec. Electricals and general inspection

A proper general service includes a check of battery terminals, headlight and indicator function, and horn, even though these aren't the headline items. Tyre pressure and tread condition should also be checked, since both affect handling and aren't always top of mind during a routine visit.
