Custom Wedding Outfits Made to Measure: How It Works Online
Nidhi Jain Kumar runs her label as an online store. There is no studio to visit, and customers order from Mumbai, other Indian cities and abroad. This is how a custom outfit gets made when the designer and the customer never meet.
What can be made to measure
Lehengas are always bespoke. Each one is stitched to the customer's measurements, starting from ₹20,000.
Sarees and co-ord sets come in fixed sizes. If you're ordering one of those, choose your size at checkout as you would anywhere else.
The Desi Shirts come in S to XXL, with a size chart on the product page (36" to 52" bust).
Step 1: choose the piece
Start from something on the store, or send Nidhi a reference picture. Her current work leans towards structured corsets, drapes and capes alongside classic lehengas, so it helps to say which direction you like.
Step 2: send your measurements
You can share measurements in whichever way is easiest:
- on a phone call
- on WhatsApp
- in an Instagram DM to @nidhijkumaar
- as a note when you place your order on her store
Ask someone else to measure you rather than doing it alone. Bust, waist, hips and length are the numbers that matter most for a lehenga.
Step 3: confirm and pay
Nidhi confirms the design and the price before work starts. Payment goes through the store checkout, which takes UPI, cards, net banking and wallets. Shipping is calculated at checkout.
Step 4: making and delivery
Most pieces ship in about two weeks. She ships across India and worldwide, so allow extra days if the outfit is going overseas.
Returns
Ready-size pieces like sarees, co-ord sets and shirts have easy returns. Bespoke outfits are made for one person and cannot be returned, which is one more reason to double-check your measurements before sending them.
Start with the lehengas on Nidhi Jain Kumar's store, or message her on Instagram with what you have in mind.
